New Youth Workshop for Fall

on September 5, 2010

I am excited to announce that I have a new youth workshop for Fall! My other workshops for youth can be found here.

Bringing Local History to Life–How do we bring the past to life? In this workshop, we’ll explore how to create a short essay based on local artifacts, or how to create a short story, integrating well-researched factual information and interviews, about a local place or person. This workshop draws on Mindy’s experience writing for the Washington State History Museum’s e-zine, Columbia Kids. Mindy’s published articles and stories with Columbia Kids include a historical short story about the Port Wilson lighthouse entitled, “Tales from the Lighthouse” as well as two articles entitled, “Rachel: The Pike Market Pig”, and “Who is Under the Bridge? The Fremont Troll.” The workshop works best for students in grades 4th-7th.
