Tulalip Youth Arts Program

on October 8, 2010

I’m happy to have been selected to be one of the teaching artists working with the Tulalip Tribe Youth in a new-after school program called, The New Directions Music and Arts Prevention Program. I’ll be working with the youth in a poetry and flash fiction workshop which will begin in 2011. The program is for Tulalip students age 13 – 18 and is designed to foster healthy choices and create a road map for an inspired life. The workshops will meet on Monday and Tuesdays from 3:00-6:00 pm at the Tulalip Boys and Girls Club and is a FREE program for the youth.

The first artist working with the youth at Tulalip will be Andrew Morrison.

From Nov. 1 – Dec. 14, 2010. Andrew will
lead a hands-on, community mural art project that will transform
the Big Shot Cyrus James Overpass, a place that has long been
a target of tagging and graffiti.  A public
unveiling and ceremony will be scheduled for Dec. 13, 2010.
