Happy Halloween! I’m participating in the Spooktacular Giveaway Hop, sponsored by I Am A Reader, Not A Writer.
Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. I live on a street with many children and love handing out treats and oohing and ahhing over their costumes. One of my own memories of Halloween is the Pumpkin Box costume. This was a large box painted orange with black eyes and mouth. I wore it during fourth grade and hated it! All the girls that year were fancy witches and as they paraded into the bathroom to get ready, I had to stay in the classroom with the boys who teased me about my costume. That night, I went home and changed my costume to be a witch–just like everyone else. A few years ago, a boy came to my door wearing a box with the Amazon logo. He grinned at me and said, “I’m an Amazon package.” It reminded me a lot of my pumpkin box costume.
Here is a picture of my pumpkin box costume:

Blurb: Jenny Piercy is excited to help with the Elmheart Hotel’s old-fashion Halloween barn party and enjoys nothing more than working side-by-side long-time friend, Zach Cullver. But, it’s going to take more than a fortune teller’s prediction of true love to bring these two together. Can a coffin and a mummy costume show Zach and Jenny the best romance is found in long-time friendship in this sweet, contemporary romance novella? This is the second story in the Elmheart Hotel sweet contemporary novella series, but you do not have to read the first one to read this one.
A listing of all of the sweet romances in the Elmheart Hotel series can be found here.

One year I designed a unique costume: I was a Christmas tree! I made a tin foil star for the top of my head and painted my face green. The “tree” was layers of green netting on which I attached Christmas ornaments. It was a great hit!
My favorite was a 1920’s flapper.

We made my sister a bag of jelly beans one year. We took a large clear plastic garbage bag, put in leg holes and arm holes and “tied” the bag around her neck. It was filled with small waterballoon sized balloons as the jelly beans. It was adorable. She was miserable. The bag and balloons acted as a thermal insulator and she was so hot she was literally sweating and it was in the mid 50’s that night. Poor Baby looked cute, but felt miserable.
My favourite costume was when I dressed up as Big Bird! My three year old son was so excited! Of course that was 32 years ago! Last year my 1 1/2 year old grandson was Tigger and that was pretty special!

My favorite was a biker chick that I wore last year
I loved all my costumes over the years. I really liked my nurse, firewoman, gladiator, and vampire costumes that I have worn the last four years. Thanks for the giveaway!

One year I made a lady gangster costume with a pin stripe skirt suit, a fedora, a cigar, and a red rose on the lapel. It did get a prize at the local Halloween fair 🙂

The Halloween costume that was a favorite and non- favorite was a gorgeous princess costume I made for my then 7 year old daughter. It turned out beautiful, but it was terrible material to sew and kept slipping while I sewed it on my machine. She loved it and played dress up with it for years, so I guess it was worth it. 🙂 ssdawn2002(AT)yahoo(DOT)com
We don’t celebrate Halloween over here in country, so I’ve never worn a Halloween costume.

Thanks for the giveaway.

I’ve never worn or made a halloween costume, but a few years ago I went shopping with my mum, gran, aunt and cousin. We were looking for a costume for my cousin, who was about 13 months old at the time, we found her a pumpkin one that could go over her clothes with a hat for the stalk. We put it on her in the shop to see if it would fit, then almost wet ourselves laughing at how funny/cute she looked, as was every other person who walked past!
I have a Minnie Mouse Costume I wore last year that I absolutely loved! I just wore it to pass out candy & everyone that came to the door loved the costume. =)
Thank you for the giveaway! =)
Take care & I hope you have a great day! ❤

My favorite costume as a child was my statue of liberty when I was about 10 years old. ❤ I went to our church thing, and this was right after 9/11 and I won best costume there! ❤ It made me feel so awesome, plus it meant a lot because it was something my mother and grandmother worked on together before they stopped talking to each other after my grandfather passed. ❤

I was snoopy when I was 5. I loved it. After being married I told my husband about the costume – He was snoopy too! funhippo3atyahoodotcom
Romantic Snoopy costumes! Great!
It’s a tossup for me. I remember being a fairy one year, the first year I really picked out my costume myself. Pretty, shimmery green dress and wings with sparkles. Earlier on, my parents dressed me up as Raggedy Ann. Red yarn wig, face paint to look like the doll, blue dress with white leggings and shirt under to look like the doll’s exposed arms and legs. It was a *really* good costume. (smilesXalumniYcmuYedu, x is @ and the y’s are dots)
One of my favorite costumes was my Cinderella costume. I loved it so much I think I wore it for three years or so and probably anytime I played dress up in between those Halloweens.

My favorite Halloween costume that I wore was Miss America. I had a beautiful evening gown, sash, crown, flowers, etc. it was fun doing the special wave and dressing up.
Oops, I forgot to leave my email address – allyswanson@hotmail.com, thanks!
I haven’t worn it yet, but this year, I’m dressing up as a zombie mom. I’m pregnant, and I’m gluing a doll’s arms and feet to a shirt and making it look like I have a zombie baby coming out! Might sound gory, but it’ll be fabulous! (I’m a Walking Dead fanatic, so this is my fave!)
When I was 7, my Mom made me this awesome Snoopy costume that I absolutely loved!
Thanks for the amazing giveaway!

I went as a Blue M&M in middle school. I loved it! theindigoshelf (at) gmail (dot) com
Blue M and M! Great!
My childhood was filled with amazing costumes that my mother sewed for me. A very memorable one, though, was when I was five. She made a mermaid tail out of tulle and lame, and stuffed the tail with polyfill (it was out to the side so I had a range of movement and wouldn’t trip). For the top, she sewed two purple “shells” onto a sweatshirt that matched my skin tone for a shell “bra”. (Hey, we lived above 45 degrees N, warmth had to be a consideration.) In my hair, she sprayed red, one-wash hair color, and sparkles.
I got so much candy that year….

Lucky to have a mom who sewed costumes!
We don’t really celebrate Halloween in Argentina 😦 But I did bought a nice clown costume for my niece, because she loves dressing up!

This sounds great! My favorite costume or least favorite? Least favorite was the cowgirl. Picture this – Grandpa’s boots and cap guns and huge ten-gallon hat. Yikes. Favorite was cheerleader. My mom made the costume (pom poms and all!) and it was very adorable.
Thank you!
daphnelynn6 at gmail dot com
That cowgirl would have been a lot of weight to run around on Halloween! Thanks for sharing your story!
My favorite costume was Elvira, least fav was Little Bo peep!

My favorite AND least favorite costume was the year that my siblings and friends all dressed up as a band of pirates, and I went as their “captive maiden.” We rehearsed this whole skit where they would do their AARRRRGH yell and I would shriek in fright. We were going to do this at each house instead of saying “trick or treat.” Well, most people kind of freaked out when we started the skit on their front porches. It made me feel embarrassed, and I wanted to go home early or just change into a pirate costume like the rest of my friends. We ended up dropping the skit, and the rest of the night was fine. I just always remember that feeling of thinking we had done something creative and fun, and having no one really understand what we were doing. Fifteen years later, I’d say maybe we could have saved it for a different venue rather than people’s front porches…but our creativity was still awesome!

Great Halloween costume story, Elizabeth!
My favorite was the year I dressed up as Frankenstein. I loved making my face and hands green, not sure my mom liked the mess I left behind. kumquat8 at hotmail dot com
Ha ha! Great story! I bet she didn’t like it! One Christmas, a gal who I mentored wanted to make Christmas cookies. She stuck her hands into the green frosting and ran around with green hands! She would have made a good Frankenstein!
My favorite is when I was Darth Vader. :3
I was a red crayon when I was about 5. That had to be my worst costume. tomegnome5@gmail.com
One year I was a pirate and the dress was really soft and pretty reds and yellows. I loved that costume and its big fancy hat! I use to come home after school everyday and change into it after Halloween like it was lounge wear, lol. Good times, good times.
